6 Factors That Determine The Price of A Forklift

A forklift is a key piece of equipment that’s essential for easy lifting and movement of both bulk materials and heavy loads. However, there are different types of forklifts to choose from depending on your needs and requirements. So, how do you ensure you get the best deal and the most suitable  piece of equipment? If you’re in the market for a new forklift, keep the following factors in mind:

  1. Manufacturer: not all forklifts are created equal, both in terms of functionalities and price. So, choose a reputable manufacturer and compare the forklift functionalities before making your purchase.

  2. Warranty: an extended warranty period is worth shelling out for to ensure peace of mind when it comes to the longevity of your forklift.

  3. Carrying Capacity: choosing a forklift with the highest capacity may not be the right decision to make. The higher the capacity of the forklift is often reflected in a higher price. So, choose a forklift that closely suits your requirements. For example, some forklifts come with appliance clamps while others have paper roll clamps. For more accurate load placement you also need to check if the forklift comes with a side shift.

  4. Lifting Height: take a note of the lift height, the highest point to which the forklift will reach, and if you have any height restrictions like ceiling beam or hanging lights. If the forklift needs to reach somewhere like a garage or a container door then you may also need to check the collapsed height of the mast.

  5. Fuel Type: if you’re looking for cheap forklifts, don’t only go by the upfront forklift price, but also keep in mind the long-term costs. For example, electric forklifts cost more initially but are more durable and consume less energy. On the other hand, gas and diesel-operated forklifts can carry heavier loads but will have higher operating costs as compared to the electric ones. The operating cost of the forklift should be also kept in mind while considering a purchase.

  6. Tyres: pneumatic, white non-marking, and cushioned tyres are some of the most popular forklift tyres. Pneumatic tyres can be used indoors and outdoors, while the cushioned tires can be used only on concrete and asphalt surfaces. On the other hand, grooved tyres for large trucks and smooth tyres for dry in-house applications are considered the best. The cost of tyres varies with the type.
